TGIF – Thank God it’s Friday, highlight of the week in every office around the globe. For the Becquerels, this weeks TGIF should better be tagged: TGIF-R. Thank God it’s finally released! After seeing it’s digital release in January, the Becquerels‘ debut EP „Varmints on the run“ hits the record stores. Believe it or not, record stores still exist, and for those of you interested in a physical release, check out the picture shot in a Munich record store today!
The promotion campaign recently kicked-off brought some amusing reviews in the meantime – check out the quotes below for „Varmints On The Run“ :
„The Becquerels EP definitely indicates talent and potential. If they carry on in that direction, the Becquerels might deliver an entertaining debut album. – Maximilian Nitzke, CDSTARTS -> Read the article
The boys put on their velvet suits, the girls dress up in their best Swinging-London-Outfits, and everybody is dancing – shake it, baby! Here we go, the perfect scenery for „Varmints on the run“. If you can’t get into it, have the Becquerels push you in the right musical direction. – dieChris, WhiskeySoda -> Read the article
Varmints on the run“ sometimes reminds me of the good old „Multicoloured Shades“ with their remarkable organ sound and vocal parts. A bit more pop though. All in all, I’m amazed that something as „british“ as the Becquerels is coming from Germany. And on top of that, really well made. Great that Germany is still producing good Pop-Rock Acts like the Becquerels. – Rainer, MusikInstinkt -> Read the article
Becquerls is precise in delivery, which is complicated by the slow nature of the guitar playing, with chords extended for improbably lengthy periods, as a delightful vocal delivers a complimentary effect. The over all shape is one of maturity and confidence in delivery that is reflected in the song structures which firmly eschew electronic tinkering, harking firmly to the era of ’60s and ’70s pop rock bands. – Tim, Indie Bands Blog -> Read the article
